Exception doses are used when a patient needs an additional dose on a day where they have already received a dose.
This could be due to the patient vomiting the dose, it being stolen, the doctor prescribing an additional dose for that day, etc.
- Click on Add Exception under the General tab.
- Click on the patient in the list then press Select on the right. You will see the below screen.
- Under Exception Type, select the corresponding reason and type additional information into the Exception Comments box underneath.
- If the dose is part of a prescription select the matching prescription – this will autofill most of the information for you.
- Enter the date of the exception dose and press Continue.
- You will see the dose form as below. Click on the Ex-Today entry, select who it was administered by, then press Dose.
- Open the patient’s Dose History window to confirm the exception dose has been added correctly.
